Having a toddler has probably changed my entire perspective on this – before we went to Bali we bought a ridiculously cheap portable DVD player to use on the plane etc. It was a god-send. Long drives are now a delight and I don’t feel weak concentrating on the road while Scarlet is happily watching playschool.

It occured to me later that an iPad while a bigger investment would have filled the same purpose with more storage, functionality and battery life. Still, the idea of splurging on one seemed a bit nuts.

Its my birthday this weekend and Mum and Dad wanted some gift ideas – a contribution to an iPad came to mind and the more I thought about it, the more I could justify having one in my life. Especially as so many clients are wanting things to look amazing on the iPad, and testing using online viewers just doesn’t give the same bang.

So… its ordered… on the way – time will tell whether I got sucked into the Mac Marketing Machine [mmm] again… well, if nothing else, at least I’ll get another wiff of that intoxicating ‘new mac smell’ when I open the box.

I don’t know where she gets it from – Mike and I aren’t this cool.

Alex Taylor posted a link to this video on Facebook about a month ago. I looked it up and found a good copy of it and sat down to watch it in our living room. At first glance I thought it was a Baraka style flick with gorgeous visuals and soundtrack. What I hadn’t anticipated was a reality check documentary which would haunt me more than even ‘An inconvenient truth’ had.

Look it up and watch it… I’m still a bit at a loss about where to go from here. I already knew all of this – but sometimes when information is presented to you in a different format it knocks you for six.
